Weinstein 2020 NYC Conviction Overturned. L-A Conviction Still Stands

The New York conviction against disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been thrown out.

The New York Court of Appeals has ruled that Weinstein did not receive a fair trial in 2020.

The court says the judge in that trial made an error… allowing women to testify about alleged sexual assaults committed by Weinstein.  But those specific sexual assaults were not part of the charges prosecutors had filed  against Weinstein.  But the testimony of those women, could have swayed some jury members.

The New York Court of Appeals has ordered a new trial.

Weinstein was also convicted of rape in Los Angeles in February 2023.  That conviction still stands.

Weinstein is serving 16 years in prison in the Los Angeles case.
