Two Men Arrested Following Failed Burglary Attempt In Thousand Palms

A man from San Bernardino and a man from Boron, a small town midway between Bakersfield and Barstow are jailed in Indio.

A juvenile is a Juvenile Hall in Indio.

All of them face burglary charges.

They were in a white Kia Optima that sped away from Sheriffs deputies in Palm Desert early Thursday morning January 18th 2024.

Minutes before that, around 4 in the morning, the driver of the Optima deliberately drove into the doors of a business on El Viento in Thousand Palms, but the car failed to break through the doors.

With deputies in pursuit, the Optima finally crashed into a fence, deputies arrested 20 year old Terijon Wilkerson of Victorville, and 18 year old Kyvon Payne of Boron, and a juvenile.

At 4:31 Thursday morning January 18th 2024,  deputies were notified of a collision on  Adelaid Street in Thousand Palms. 

They found a black Hyundai Sonata near a business and the driver of the Sonata had  attempted to drive through the entrance of the business, but failed to break through the doors.

Deputies have determined that the white Kia and the black Hyundai were associated with each other. Both vehicles have been reported stolen from San Bernardino. 

This investigation is ongoing.  Deputies are still working to determine if there are any outstanding suspects.
