Two Fatal Crashes Mar Christmas Eve In The Desert
A Desert Hot Springs woman has been killed in a crash on Interstate 10 in Indio.
35 year old Teresa Herrera was a passenger in a car heading west on I-10 near Jefferson Street just after 2 in the morning on Sunday December 24th 2023.
The car was being driven by a 27 year old man from Palm Springs.
He crashed into a concrete barrier, and suffered serious injuries.
Herrera was ejected and killed.
The CHP says alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

A Cathedral City woman has been killed in a hit and run crash on Date Palm Drive.
The victim is identified as 48 year old Enma Calbillo.
She was in a car heading south on Date Palm Drive south of Varner Road just before 11:30 at night on Sunday December 24th 2023.
Another car driven by 21 year old Angel Torres of Cathedral City was also traveling on Date Palm Drive and made a turn into oncoming traffic that was heading south. Torres hit 2 other vehicles then took off.
He has since been arrested.
Alcohol or drugs may have been factors in this crash.
