Never A Dull Moment For Law Enforcement

Late Wednesday night April 3rd 2024 just before midnight  deputies  were dispatched to  Vista Dunes Lane in La Quinta,  regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. 

They found a suspect, who was armed with a knife. Deputies gave multiple commands for the suspect to drop the knife, but the suspect ignored all of them.

Deputies shot him.  He was rushed to the hospital and will survive.

The deputies were NOT hurt.

Sheriffs deputies in had to deal with this.

At 2:16 Thursday afternoon April 4th 2024,  members of the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force found a vehicle in the City of Indio, with a driver who was suspected of driving under the influence. 

Numerous people called 9-1-1 to report the driver was driving erratically.

When deputies tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped away, and a chase began.

Eventually travelling on eastbound Interstate 10, the driver  made it to Coachella, then stopped, and backed his car into a deputy’s car.

Deputies arrested 21 year old  Jonathon Daniel Ortiz of Whittier  for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, evading,  and driving under the influence. 

No one was hurt.
