Medical Emergency To Blame For Fatal Crash In Palm Desert

On Saturday, January 13th  2024, around 5:44 p.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station were flagged down by citizens regarding a traffic collision at the intersection of Country Club Drive and Barrington Drive just west of Washington Street in Palm Desert.

Deputies found a crash involving a Chrysler 300 and a Toyota Highlander.

The driver of the Toyota was found in the driver’s seat unresponsive. Efforts to save that driver failed.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Chrysler was stopped in the eastbound lane of Country Club Drive at Barrington Drive when the Toyota rear-ended it. It was determined the driver of the Toyota most likely suffered a medical emergency just before the collision.

The driver and passenger of the Chrysler were not injured and remained at the scene. At this time, it does not appear drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor. The decedent’s name is being withheld pending notice to next of kin.
