Felon Busted With Guns & Ammo

For the past month, The Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force  has been gathering information  on 41 year old Leroy Melgoza of Desert Hot Springs.

He’s a convicted felon. Under California law, he is not allowed to possess a gun.

On Tuesday January 16th 2024 officers arrested Melgoza near the busy shopping area of  Monterey Avenue and Dinah Shore Drive in Rancho Mirage.

A search of his home on Bubbling Wells Road in Desert Hot Springs resulted in deputies finding 2 guns and ammunition.

Again, by law, a convicted felon is not allowed to have a gun in California.  So Leroy Melgoza was ultimately hauled off  to the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio and booked for being a  convicted felon in possession of firearms and ammunition.
