Woman Fights Back; Suspect Apprehended; Stolen Laptop Recovered

A courageous woman refused to be a victim of violent crime Sunday in Thermal.  She fought back and helped deputies recover her stolen property.

On Sunday, December 19th 2021 around noon, a woman was parked at the Truck Stops of America facility on Dillon Road in Coachella.

That when 41 year old Jesus Perales  of Indio Hills decided to commit a strong-arm robbery.

Perales stole the woman’s laptop computer that was inside a case in the trunk of the woman’s vehicle.

The woman gave chase and got into a physical confrontation with Perales, before Perales jumped into a white Lincoln and sped away with the stolen laptop.

Sheriffs deputies with help from a CHP helicopter, spotted the Lincoln under a tarp at a citrus field on Dillon Road and Perales was hiding at a nearby camp.

They arrested Perales, and found the victim’s laptop buried nearby.

Perales was booked into county jail in Indio on 30-thosuand dollars bail, and is facing a robbery charge.

The victim was treated for some scrapes and she has her laptop back.
