Thief Nabbed In Desert Hot Springs

Around 11 o’clock in the morning on Father’s Day, June 16th 2024,  Desert Hot Springs Police spotted a car linked to a recent kidnapping.

It was at Indian Canyon Drive and 20th Avenue.

The driver of the car, 50 year old Jason Gieling,  refused to stop, and led officers on a chase into the surrounding desert dirt.

It all ended when Gieling  got out of the car, holding a handgun.

Police opened fire.

A CHP helicopter rushed Gieling to the hospital, and he is expected to survive.

Gieling was wanted on a felony warrant for grand theft.

No officers were hurt.
