Thief Busted

Throughout October 2024, deputies were called to investigate numerous commercial burglaries in the City of Rancho Mirage and the unincorporated area of Thousand Palms. 

The investigation revealed that the suspect stole $2,000 in US currency, electronics, and safes from multiple businesses. The Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team investigated the burglaries and identified the suspect as 48-year-old Kenneth Cook, a resident of Thousand Palms.

Cook was also connected to additional commercial burglaries being investigated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office. 

On Friday November 1st 2024, the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team apprehended Cook while he was driving a stolen vehicle near  Ramon Road and Thousand Palms Canyon Road in  Thousand Palms.

A search of the vehicle turned up burglary tools and evidence connecting him to the burglaries. Cook was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for multiple counts of burglary and theft of a vehicle.  Bail is $500,000.
