Supervisors Approve $1M Expenditure To Expand FIND Food Bank

FIND Food Bank is getting one million dollars from American taxpayers to help pay for an expansion of its facility in Indio.
The County Board of Supervisors has approved the expenditure.
FIND Food Bank, provides food to people in need across the Coachella Valley, the Morongo Basin, west to Anza, and east to Blythe. FIND has numerous mobile markets , and food distribution sites around the region, and responds to weather-related emergencies in the area.
The money comes from the federal American Rescue Plan.
FIND Food Bank has seen the demand for food double since the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020.
FIND Food Bank is planning to more than double the size of its food distribution capacity, and has received a donation of land adjacent to its current building in Indio. The proposed project has an estimated cost of $11 million for a new building and equipment. FIND Food Bank has also secured two grants from the State of California of approximately $3.8 million and $1.7 million that will also be used for construction of its new facility.
