More than one third of Americans consider themselves overweight.
But if you ask the federal government, the number is a lot higher than that.
According to data from the last five years collected during Gallup’s annual Health and Healthcare poll, 41-percent of Americans think they’re overweight.
That percentage is up from 36-percent from the previous five-year period.
However, federal health statistics show nearly 75-percent of Americans are either overweight or obese.
The same Gallup data found 53% of Americans consider their weight to be about right.
Man with fat belly.
