So Your Medical Records Have Gone Digital? They May Also Have Gone Bye-Bye

The personal healthcare information of one out of every three Americans may be in the hands of hackers.

Change Healthcare is confirming that ransomware hackers stole medical records during a server attack in February 2024.

Change is a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group.

The data breach affects what the company calls a “substantial proportion of people,” and Change has access to the health records of about a third of all Americans.

The stolen information  includes personal medical records, along with dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, and passport numbers.
