At first glimpse of the old Westfield Mall in Palm Desert, it does not exactly look like a scene from the wild, wild west.
But it was every bit of that Thursday afternoon, February 2nd 2023, when someone opened fire in the middle of the afternoon, at what is now called The Shops At Palm Desert.
It all happened around 2 in the afternoon, when people in two cars in the parking lot near J C Penney, started shooting at each other.
And kept shooting.
Courageous deputies were able to risk their lives, and arrest 2 suspects.
They marked off evidence of 30 spent rounds on the ground.
No one was hurt.
