‘Short Term Rental Syndrome Now Plague of Several Desert Cities

Call it ‘short term rental syndrome’.  And it’s sweeping the Coachella Valley. And the FDA and CDC, and Dr Anthony Fauci can’t save you with a vaccine.

STR Syndrome is a modern day disease causing anger when one of your neighbors rents their place to someone who comes in for a few nights, makes noise, disturbs neighbors, then leaves town, paving the way for another short term renter to do the same thing.

The battle over short term rentals has been fought in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert and now La Quinta.

Cathedral City went so far to put Measure B on the ballot in March 2021 restricting short term rentals in town. Voters passed it overwhelmingly.

Well, La Quinta residents are likely to see people in town gathering signatures, in hopes of getting enough signatures to put a petition on the ballot to establish a 30 day minimum stay restriction on short term rentals in town.
