Salvation Army & Red Cross Help Fire Evacuees

The Salvation Army of San Bernardino and the Red Cross are supporting evacuees who have left their homes, due to the  Line Fire in the San Bernardino Mountains.

The agencies are providing  food and shelter at The Jessie Turner Community Center at 15556 Summit Ave in Fontana.

“Beginning Sunday evening September 8th 2024,  the Red Cross began delivering emergency shelter supplies, while the Salvation Army starting providing lunch and dinner to more than 1-hundred people,” said Major Isaias Braga, Commander of The Salvation Army of San Bernardino.

Thousands of people near the fire, or in the path of it, are under evacuation orders and have already left their homes.  Thousands more are under evacuation warnings and could be told to evacuate in a moments notice.

The shelter and food service were initially planned for San Bernardino, but unhealthy air quality required moving the shelter east to Fontana.
