Riverside County is closing its Covid-19 vaccination clinics in Desert Hot Springs, Hemet, Moreno Valley and Perris.
Instead, the county will focus on mobile teams to bring the vaccine to neighborhoods.
This is happening even though vaccination rates are low in those areas.
In the latest numbers from August 9th 2021, only 41% of the population in Desert Hot Springs is fully vaccinated against Covid-19. In nearby Sky Valley, it’s 47%.
The vaccine clinic at the Carl May Center in DHS is closing on Sunday August 15th 2021. The Hemet Valley Mall clinic is closing Friday August 13th. The Moreno Valley Mall clinic is closing Saturday August 14th
In 8 months, 56-thousand Covid-19 vaccines have been administered at the Moreno Valley Mall.
12,600 doses have been administered at the Carl May Center in Desert Hot Springs since March 2021.
The Hemet location has only given out 15-hundred vaccines in 5 months.
Out of 2.1 million people eligible to get the vaccine in Riverside County only 1,072,590 people have been fully vaccinated. That’s 51%.
When you add in the people who have gotten one dose, but not the second dose of the vaccine, that’s still just 59% of the people eligible or 1,249,598 people.
