Riverside County Adding 2-Hundred Cameras In Unincorporated Areas To Keep Track Of License Plates

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors has approved  an expansion of  the Sheriff’s Department’s license plate recognition camera program through June 2028.

The County now has a 1.6 million dollar deal with Flock Safety Group, for installation of  210 cameras in unincorporated areas, which includes places like Sky Valley, Bermuda Dunes and Thousand Palms.

Undersheriff Don Sharp emphasized the cameras’ role in criminal investigations, with monitored data access.

Riverside County already has 328 cameras reading your license plate when you travel around the county.

The City of Palm Springs is installing 15 of those cameras in the city limits to also record license plate information.
