RivCo Animal Services Switching Gears; Hires Outside Consultant As Embattled Director Resigns

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors has hired an outside consultant to evaluate operations in the County Department of Animal Services.

This comes after the Board’s ad hoc committee on animal services identified the need to hire a “recognized expert in the field of animal services and shelter operations”. The Executive Office was directed to find an expert and bring the recommendation to the full Board of Supervisors. Outcomes for Pets Consulting, LLC will conduct a thorough evaluation and implement strategies aimed at boosting operational efficiency, and keeping more animals alive.

All of this in the wake of the upcoming resignation of Animal Services Department Director Erin Gettis, who exits stage left on Sept 24th 2024, little more than a month after a lawsuit was filed in an effort to oust her.

Walter Clark Legal Group, which filed the lawsuit, claims the County is euthanizing up to 1-thousand animals every month, for the past 2 years…more than any other animal shelter in the United States in the past 2 years.

Outcomes for Pets Consulting will come up with a plan to reduce euthanasia in the County.
