Remembering 9/11…20 Years Later

The Palm Springs Fire Department is hosting a 20th Anniversary Remembrance of the 9/11 attacks, on Saturday September 11th 2021.

It’s from 8:30 a-m ‘til 12 noon at Fire Station #2 at 300 N El Cielo Road.

There will be Guest Speakers, Pipes and Drums, an Honor Guard, Live Music, and a Food Truck.

At 9:45 a-m Saturday morning September 11th 2021, the Palm Springs Air Museum will conduct a flyover across the Coachella Valley and High Desert.

Seven vintage warplanes will fly over the Remembrance at Palm Springs Fire Station #2, then head east across the valley, then fly over the Marine Corps Base in 29 Palms.

The flyover will honor our local fallen heroes who fought against terrorism.

The City of Indio is hosting a recycling and sustainability event from 9 a-m to noon on Saturday September 11th 2021, and is giving away 3-hundred shade trees to people who stop by.

The City will use that event to honor Marine Corps Corporal Hunter Lopez, an Indio native who was killed in the August 2021 terrorist attacks in Afghanistan.

 The City has a memorial for Corporal Lopez outside City Hall.

In Cathedral City, a couple has build a 17 foot tall replica of the Twin Towers.  

It’s in their back yard on Avenida Maravilla.

Wait until the sun sets, then follow the lights in the neighborhood to find it.

A documentary about the 9/11 attacks, titled “Telling Nicholas” will be screened at the mary Pickford Theatre in Cathedral City at 6:30 p-m, on Saturday September 11th 2021 to benefit Variety Club of the Desert. Get more information at www.everydollarhelps.info

The Palm Canyon Theatre in Palm Springs has “The Guys” onstage Saturday September 11th 2021 at 7 p-m and Sunday September 12th at 2 p-m.

It’s a 2 person show about a New York City Fire Captain who struggles to write eulogies for eight fallen comrades who perished in the 9/11 attacks.
