“Red Dragon” Sculpture On Display
Palm Springs Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein and Mayor Pro Tem Ron deHarte will join members of the City’s Public Arts Commission to accept the gift of the sculpture from the Old Las Palmas Neighorborhood Organization and officially dedicate the artwork.
It’s the work of artist Delos van Earle’s, his sculpture titled “Red Dragon.”
WHEN: Wednesday, Jan. 10th 2024 at 11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Chino Drive median in the Old Las Palmas Neighborhood west of Palm Canyon Drive.
ABOUT: The “Red Dragon” sculpture by Delos van Earle, who also created the well known sculpture “Jungle Red,” in the Warm Sands neighborhood, came to the City of Palm Springs Public Arts Commission when the Old Las Palmas Neighborhood Organzation applied for a $5,000 neighborhood grant. The Commission approved their program with their promise to fund the balance of the cost. The neighorhood association paid their share through funds made from Modernism tours in the community. The Public Arts Commission and City Council approved every step of the process.
