Park Passes, Backpacks Ready To Go For A Hike…Are You?

Starting Friday September 1st the Palm Springs Public Library has ten new Discovery Backpacks along with Passes to California State Parks.
You can check out those items and have a fun time outdoors.
It all part of Library Card Sign-Up month in September
Back in June the Library received several California State Parks Passes to loan as part of a pilot program created by the California State Library and the California State Parks that allows Californians to use their Library Cards to check-out California Library Parks Passes to visit State Parks for FREE!
Each Discovery Backpack, all contained in a bright, weatherproof backpack, includes binoculars, a compass, three books (HOW TO USE A COMPASS FOR KIDS & ADULTS, ANZA-BORREGO DESERT REGION: YOUR COMPLETE GUIDE, and KIDS GUIDE TO BIRDS OF CA, a set of California Nature Field Guides to Wildlife, Birds, and Plants, a ‘Leave No Trace’ card (in English and Spanish), an emergency whistle and a map of California State Parks (both of which the user can keep after their use). These items were selected to help enhance the user’s experience in the State Parks.
The backpacks and passes can be checked out for two weeks; the passes offer free vehicle day-use entry to over 200 participating state park units operated by California State Parks. At the end of use we ask that a short survey be completed online, accessible by scanning the QR code on the tag attached to the backpack.
Each hangtag pass is valid for entry of one passenger vehicle with capacity of up to nine people.
