It’s been more than a year since the City of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley Association of Governments rolled out Desert Community Energy.
A program offering residents in the city the chance to sign up for electricity produced from renewable resources, and 100% carbon free.
The city is now crediting that program, new bicycle lanes, electric vehicle charging stations, and preserving open space, with helping the city exceed California emissions reduction goals by 16%.
Desert Community Energy is planning 3 new wind farms in Palm Springs which will send all their energy production to customers in the city of Palm Springs.
