New Surgical Robot On Duty At Desert Regional Medical Center

Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs has just hired a new surgeon…and this one is a robot.

The hospital  is making a nearly 3 million dollar investment in surgical robots – to handle minimally invasive surgeries in urology, gynecology, bariatric and general surgery

Of course, the the Da Vinci 5 robot will assist human surgeons in the surgery room. It is the latest iteration of a surgical robot, which Desert Regional has been using for manyl years.

The robots are built by a company called Intuitive Surgical, and the robot at Desert Regional Medical Center is  first in Riverside County and one of only eight in Southern California.
