Next month, they’ll be a new sheriff in town keeping a close eye on Hemet, Idyllwild, Mountain Center and Pine Cove.

He’s Captain Leonard Purvis, who takes over as the new Commander of the Hemet Sheriff’s Station on February 16th.

He’ll replace  Captain Joe Borja who will retire next  month.

Captain Purvis has been in law enforcement for 27 years, since he started working as a reserve police officer in Monterey Park in 1986.   He was hired by  the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department in 1989.

One year later, he moved to Riverside County and has been with the Riverside County Sheriffs Department ever since.
