The Desert Healthcare District is rolling out a a mobile medical unit to serve people on the north side of Palm Springs every Wednesday.

575-thousand dollars from the District and Foundation, 100-thousand dollars from the Inland Empire Health Plan, and 75-thousand dollars from Lift To Rise, are paying for the unit.

Borrego Health will staff the unit, and offer  family medicine, women’s health and pregnancy tests, immunizations and physicals for school, HIV/STI testing, COVID-19 testing, and lab work.

The mobile unit will be at the James O. Jesse Desert Highland Unity Center, 480 W. Tramview Road in Palm Springs, every Wednesday from 9 a-m to 4 p-m.

The major goal is to offer residents a regular source of primary care and reduce the number of people who show up at the emergency room with minor ailments that don’t need emergency room attention.
