Memorials Set On 9/11
In Palm Springs, the Fire Department is hosting its annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at the fire station at 300 N El Cielo, just north of Palm Springs International Airport.
Fire personnel and City Staff will gather at 8:20 a-m on Weds Sept 11th 2024, with a moment of silence being observed at 8:46 a-m… which is the time on the East Coast when the first jet crashed into the World Trade Center on September 11th 2001.
The Palm Springs Fire Department Honor Guard will lower the American Flag over the memorial to Half Staff, accompanied by a performance from the Palm Springs Air Museum Pipes & Drums Band.
“The Palm Springs Fire Department takes our commitment to honoring and remembering those who lost their lives on that tragic day in our American history very seriously,” says Fire Chief Paul Alvarado.
“We invite the entire community to join us for this poignant and important ceremony. We must never forget.”
At 9:30 in the morning on Weds Sept 11th 2024, the City of La Quinta is hosting a special unveiling ceremony at Fire Station #32, to showcase the 9/11 Memorial Painting.
The painting has been traveling around San Diego County the past 4 years, and is a lasting tribute to the heroes of the 9/11 2001 attacks.
Fire Station 32 is on Avenue 52, right next to Fritz Burns Park and the City of La Quinta Maintenance and Operations Center.
La Quinta is also holding its annual 9/11 Candlelight Vigil at 7 p-m on Weds Sept 11th 2024. Due to smoke and ash from area wildfires, the Vigil has been moved indoors.
It will be in the Wellness Center at 78-450 Avenida La Fonda.
