Man Escapes After 2 Attacks In Bermuda Dunes

It was just before 3 in the morning on Wednesday August 21st 2024 when a man followed a woman to her apartment on Avenue 42 in Bermuda Dunes.

The woman screamed at the suspect, and he ran away.   The victim called 9-1-1.

The suspect is a black male in his 20’s and he was wearing a black ski mask covering most of his face.

Deputies got a good look at the guy on surveillance video footage.

More than 7 hours later, at 10:27 a.m. Wednesday, deputies received a report of a sexual assault near Adams Street and Dune Lake Street in Bermuda Dunes. 

The victim told deputies she was in the area between 2:30 and 3:00 in the morning,  when she was attacked by an unknown male and sexually assaulted. The victim described the suspect as a black male adult, 20–30 years old, approximately 5’-08”, and a heavy build. The suspect was wearing a black ski mask to cover his face. The suspect fled in an unknown direction after the assault. 

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Thermal Station is requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect of this assault. Investigators say the suspect described by the victims was the same suspect in both incidents.
