Many people retire to spend more time on the golf course or tennis court.
Mary Anderson of Jurupa Valley was not one of them.
The 74 year old Anderson spent her retirement years volunteering with the Riverside County Animal Services Department.
Over the past ten years, she fostered more than 70 homeless dogs and cats, until they found new homes. When she first started fostering homeless pets in 2011, the county was not even keeping track of them.
But her service has ended.
She passed away from Covid-19 on February 19th 2021.
A drive-thru celebration of life ceremony is set for 11 a-m on Sunday March 28th 2021 at the County Animal Shelter on Van Buren Boulevard in Jurupa Valley.
Mary Anderson leaves behind four dogs: Siouxe, Harry, Bridgette, and Larry. Her family in Texas will provide new homes for the dogs.
