Local Nursing Students Get Their Pins
While big name universities have been cancelling and rescheduling commencement ceremonies, in the wake of student protests over the war in the Middle East, there are no such problems here in the desert.
College of the Desert grads and their families packed Acrisure Arena Tuesday night May 21st 2024 to celebrate graduation.
On Friday May 17th 2024, the Department of Nursing at Cal State Palm Desert held a special pinning ceremony on campus to recognize 20 pre-licensure nursing students who completed their Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. (photo above).
The ceremony also recognized one student who earned a Master in Science in Nursing, and five RN’s who earned their Bachelor Degrees.
At the ceremony, the nursing students learn about the history of the pinning ceremony, take a pledge to be selfless in their service to everyone without prejudice, and light a candle to honor the “lady with the lamp,” nurse Florence Nightingale.
