An autopsy has  determined the  cause of death of Brian Laundrie in Florida.  Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino says Laundrie’s parents have been informed the “cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was suicide.”

Laundrie was the only person of interest in the strangulation death of his fiance’ Gabby Petito.  Her body was found in Wyoming in September 2021 and the coroner ruled she died by strangulation.

Though they were a couple, it was a rocky relationship between Laundrie and Petito with frequent fallouts and arguments, according to Petito’s family.

Laundrie and Petito went on a cross-country driving vacation during the summer of 2021, which ended with  Laundrie  returning home to Florida with Petito’s van, and Petito nowhere to be found.

Her body was found a few weeks later, at the same time Laundrie left his parents Florida home to go hiking in a vast Florida nature preserve loaded with alligators and snakes.   The search for him lasted several weeks, until police found his remains in late October 2021.
