L-A County Deputies Arrest Suspect In Murder Of Deputy In Palmdale

Sheriffs deputies in Los Angeles County have arrested Kevin Salazar and have linked him to the ambush murder of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer (photo above).
Clinkunbroomer was in his patrol car late Saturday afternoon September 16th 2023, just blocks from the Palmdale Sheriffs Station he was stationed at.
A dark Toyota Corolla drove up alongside the deputy’s car and someone in the Corolla opened fire, hitting Clinkunbroomer in the back of the head.
He was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna says a search warrant was served at a home in Palmdale without 36 hours of the killing, and Salazar was arrested after a standoff with deputies in which Salazar barricaded himself inside the home. Deputies used tear gas to flush him out.
It’s not known if Deputy Clinkunbroomer was targeted or if he was just killed at random, or killed because he was a law enforcement officer.
We also don’t know why deputies did not shoot and kill Salazar, but instead chose to engage in a standoff with him, finally taking him into custody.
