Kristin Smart’s Killer Heading To Prison

Paul Flores, the man convicted in October 2022 of killing college student Kristin Smart in California back in 1996, has been  sentenced  25 years to life in prison.

His lawyer had asked the judge in the case to throw out Flores’ conviction and order a new trial.

That request was denied.

Flores was convicted in October 2022 of  the murder and  attempted rape of Kristin Smart.

They were classmates at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the mid-1990’s.  Smart disappeared in 1996, and her body has not been found yet.

Flores was arrested 25 years later, in 2021.

Paul Flores looks on at the second day of his preliminary hearing Tuesday Aug. 3, 2021. He was taken into custody in San Pedro and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of the murder of Cal Poly student Kristin Smart.
