Jet Crashes Near Moscow; Wagner Leader Killed

A jet reportedly carrying the leader of the Wagner mercenary group that marched on Moscow in June of 2023 may have been shot down north of Moscow Russia.

Video online shows the trail of a missile and the plane crashing.

Wagner associated social media channels claim the jet was shot down by Russian air defenses.

Russian state media reports the Wagner leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was onboard that jet and was killed.

There were 10 people on that jet.

During the week of August 21st 2023,  Prigozhin released his first video statement, and what turned out to be his last video statement,  since his troops got within 120 miles of Moscow in June 2023, before he ordered his troops to stop, and he accepted an asylum deal.

The Wagner Group leader ordered his troops to march on Moscow in June 2023  after accusing  Russia of attacking his soldiers.

Wagner mercenaries have been engaged in the war in Ukraine.

Prigozhin’s criticism of the top military brass is in stark contrast with more than two decades of rigidly controlled rule by President Vladimir Putin without any sign of infighting among his top lieutenants.
