The President of Haiti has been shot and killed inside his home on the island.

Several Spanish-speaking assailants broke into the home, and shot President Jovenel Moise to death, and shot his wife Martine also, but she survived and is hospitalized.

The 53 year old Moise has been  ruling by decree for more than two years after Haiti failed to hold elections to pick a successor.

Parliament was dissolved, and opposition leaders had recently called for Moise to step down and relinquish power.

And Moise had named Ariel Henry to be the next Prime Minister.

Haitian leaders in Haiti and in South Florida, are calling on the Biden Administration and the United Nations to get involved.

The U-S Embassy in Haiti has been closed, and Haiti’s airport has been closed due to the slaying.
