Gas Prices Continue Steady Climb

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County has gone up 46  times in 48 days, and it is now above 3 dollars a gallon.

The continuing rising prices are the result of increased demand,   higher crude oil prices and Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s decision to keep its refinery in Martinez in Contra Costa County closed for the rest of the year because of the anticipated lack of gasoline

demand in Northern California as many large employers in that region have extended the work-from-home policies through the end of the year because of the coronavirus pandemic. While the continued refinery closure primarily affects Northern California … it reduces supply options for Southern California as well.
