While many Americans were vacuuming up the last bit of tinsel and fake snow from the corner of their living rooms, and others were using Prevagen to help them remember that final stanza of Auld Lang Syne, millions of others were tempting fate at airports around the world.

Fate won.

If you managed to get to where you were going, you had to brave the ever-present and quickly-spreading omicron variant of Covid-19.

And getting back home was another story.

Thousands of flights around the country continue to be cancelled or delayed, due to airlines simply not having enough crew members to staff the flights.

The CDC has lowered the 10 day quarantine period for a positive Covid-19 test to just 5 days.

But that new edict was not in place early enough to benefit the airlines or their passengers.

The problem persists into the start of 2022.
