Fires Grow As Temperatures Cool
  • The Line Fire is burning between Highland, Running Springs, and Angelus Oaks. As of 10 AM Friday  Sept 13th 2024 the fire has burned 37,743 acres more than 58 square miles, and is 21% contained.

Road Closures:

  • SR-330 closed both directions from Highland Ave to Live Oak
  • SR-18 closed from Kuffle Canyon to Big Bear dam, in both directions. Evacuations are able to occur, but no inbound traffic allowed as fire crews are in the area – in other words, you can leave but not return.
  • SR-38 closed in both directions from Bryant to Lake Williams due to fire spread. Evacuations have begun in that area, and you are able to leave but not return home. Fire crews are in the area and working to stop the fire.
  • Garnet St. closed at SR38 in Mentone, Ca.

One home has been  destroyed in Running Springs, and three firefighters have been hurt. More than 65-thousand structures are still threatened by the Line Fire.  

Evacuation orders remain in place.

In response to the Line Fire in Highland, Agua Caliente Casino Resort and Spa Rancho Mirage, is offering evacuated families off-market pricing on accommodations. 

They have set aside a block of hotel rooms for residents displaced by wildfires. For reservations, please call 1-800-854-1279.  Rooms are available on a first come first basis.

The Bridge Fire is burning in the San Gabriel Mountains between Glendora and Phelan. As of 10 AM Friday  Sept 13th 2024,  the fire has burned 51,884 acres or almost 81 square miles, and is 3% contained. 

40 homes in  and around Wrightwood have been destroyed.  The fire perimeter spans Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties in the San Gabriel Mountains. The cause of The Bridge Fire is still unknown.

  • San Gabriel Canyon and East Fork of the San Gabriel River
  • Highway 39
  • East Fork Road
  • Glendora Ridge Road
  • Glendora Mountain Road
  • Mt. Baldy Road at Shinn Road intersection 
  • SR-2 closed from Big Pine to SR-138.
  • SR-138 closed from Lone Pine to Beekley Rd

The Airport Fire is burning in the Santa Ana Mountains between Rancho Santa Margarita and Lake Elsinore in parts of Orange and Riverside Counties. As of 10 AM Friday Sept 13th 2024  the fire has burned 23,453 acres and is 8% contained. 

Six structures have been damaged or destroyed, and ten people have been injured in the Airport Fire burning in Orange and Riverside Counties.  It started Monday afternoon in Orange County’s Trabuco Canyon and has since gone over the Santa Ana Mountains into Lake Elsinore. Most of the destruction is in El Cariso Village and Deckert Canyon communities. The Airport Fire was accidentally ignited by a spark from a public works crew using heavy equipment. 

SR-74 Closure   Ortega Highway (SR-74) is closed from Grand Avenue to Macy Street.
