Felon Pleads Guilty; Lands In Slammer Again

A Cathedral City man who fired a gun at several people, one of them a 7 year old child,  at a property in Sky Valley in early May, is going to prison for more than  6 years.

No one was hurt in the May 7th incident on Ford Avenue.

34 year old Ryan Sargent has pleaded guilty to several charges, all felonies, including assault with a gun, willful child cruelty, negligent discharge of a firearm and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

He’ll have some time to ponder his dangerous conduct, getting a sentence of 6 years and 8 months.

In the current soft-on-crime stance of the Newsom Administration in Sacramento, it it not known how long Sargent might actually spent behind bars.  Inmates are having their sentences reduced, and are being released from California prisons on a weekly basis.
