The search for murder suspect Brian Laundrie in Florida will be “scaled back.”
North Port Florida Police spokesman Josh Taylor says the FBI is now in charge of looking for Laundrie, the fiance’ of now-deceased Gabby Petito.
The three-week search for Laundrie has centered around the vast Carlton Reserve, a swampy area of 26-hundred acres on the Gulf side of Florida, which is home to alligators and snakes.
Petito was found dead in Wyoming earlier this month, after she and Laundrie went on a cross-country drive together, only to get into numerous arguments. Laundrie returned to his home in Florida, driving Petito’s van, but without Petito.

Laundrie, the boyfriend of Gabby Petito, whose body was found at a national park in Wyoming after a cross-country trip with him, has been charged with unauthorized use of a debit card as searchers continue looking for him in Florida swampland, federal authorities announced Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021.
