There are now new facemask mandates in Los Angeles, Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties in California.

You have to wear a facemask in public indoor settings whether you are vaccinated against Covid-19 or not.

But facing a recall election in September of 2021, California Governor Gavin Newsom won’t be imposing any new statewide pandemic restrictions.

Instead he says California will focus on vaccinations.

Newsom says the coronavirus is disproportionally affecting the people who are not vaccinated, says it’s up “each and every one of us” to make the decision to get vaccinated and change the course of the pandemic.

More than 70 percent of  people in California have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
