If it is not tough enough already to be a police officer in this cancel culture, defund the police, woke mentality, now prevalent in the United States, it’s even tougher when the police have to deal with fools on Facebook.

That was the situation late Monday morning August 30th, when Palm Springs Police saw a Facebook post which stated Palm Springs Police were searching for a serial killer in downtown Palm Springs, who was targeting the LGBTQ community.

Two things are certain.  #1 the Facebook post was false.

#2 the information in the post DID NOT come from the Palm Springs Police Department.

Palm Springs Police confirm they had no knowledge of any such threat, and do not know the source of the false information in the Facebook post.

If the Palm Springs Police Department had knowledge of an imminent threat to our community, that information would be posted to all our media outlets and officers would be deployed to assist with law enforcement efforts.

PSPD contacted some Facebook users who posted the false message and the posts were removed.
