The sex trafficking trial of Ghislaine Maxwell is underway in New York City.
The 59-year-old British socialite is the former companion of late child molester Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in a New York City jail cell in November 2019 as he awaited trial for sexually abusing children.
U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss says Maxwell recruited and groomed underage minors for Epstein to sexually abuse and, in some cases, participated herself.
Maxwell has pleaded not guilty, and has been held without bail since her arrest in New Hampshire in July of 2020.
No cameras are allowed in the courtroom.

Maxwell, criminally charged with aiding Jeffrey Epstein in his sexual abuse of teenage girls, testified in 2016 that she had no memory of anything amiss on his properties in the 2000s despite the accusations from dozens of women and girls that they were sexually abused by Epstein.
