Elderly Inmate Found Dead In His Cell In Indio

A 70 year old inmate from Cathedral City has been found dead in his cell at the John J Benoit Detention Center in downtown Indio.
It was about a half hour after midnight Monday morning August 14th when jail staffers found Steven Crawford unresponsive in his cell.
Efforts to revive him failed.
Cause of death is unknown, but there is no indication of foul play.
