The cells at the John J Benoit Detention Center in downtown Indio are filling up for the holiday season.

The Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force and the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team have rounded up 8 criminals on weapons and theft charges.

Wednesday afternoon December 8th 2021, officers made a traffic stop at Palm Drive and Two Bunch Palms in Desert Hot Springs.

They arrested 29 year old Carlos Mayorga of Palm springs on two outstanding felony warrants.

Mayorga is a convicted felon and a documented criminal street gang member and is not allowed to have any type of gun.

Officers also arrested 39 year old Mike Perez of Palm Springs who was at Mayorga’s  house.

The investigation led to another home on 5th Street in Desert Hot Springs, but the residents there refused to come out of the house, and a standoff ensued.

Officers finally coaxed six suspects out of the house and slapped the handcuffs on them.

They are all from Desert Hot Springs. 25 year old  Elisa Lopez, 39 year old Roberto Seym, 37 year old Joel Lapena, 23 year old Karina Siqueiros, 28 year old Thomas Nieto, and 36  year old Christina Vigil.  All of them were in violation of their probation.
