Desmond Tutu Passes at 90

Desmond Tutu has died at age 90.

Tutu was an outspoken Archbishop who led a movement against white minority rule in South Africa, and apartheid…racial discrimination.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his work towards ending apartheid.

In 2009, U-S President Barack Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Tutu was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the late 1990s, and had been hospitalized in recent years to treat infections connected with his treatment.

His family doctor said in a statement that Desmond Tutu died peacefully in Cape Town South Africa on Sunday morning December 26th 2021.
