Defendant Assaults Bailiff In Banning Courtroom; Facing More Charges Now
The effort has been underway for decades in California to rehab criminals, and turn them into productive model citizens.
But that may not be possible in the case of 20 year old Joseph Bashor of San Bernardino.
At 9:20 in the morning on Wednesday Sept 18th 2024, Bashor was in a courtroom in Banning, facing charges of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
Because he is a dangerous criminal, Bashor was restrained.
In the courtroom, Bashor became uncooperative with deputies and a physical altercation ensued.
Bashor grabbed the gun of the bailiff and tried to pull it out of the holster.
The bailiff pulled out his knife and stabbed Bashor once.
Bashor was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Bashor is back in custody at the Larry Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, now facing an additional charge of disarming a peace officer.
