Deadly Crashes Mar Weekend In High Desert

It was a deadly weekend in the High Desert.

24 year old Robert Barajas of Yucca Valley was in the passenger seat of a car driven by 22 year old Thomas Geiger Jr of Yucca Valley.

It was 6:30 in the morning on Saturday October 19th.

Geiger was driving east on Highway 61 and tried to take a left onto Indio Avenue.

He did not make it.  He was hit by a San Bernardino County Sheriffs vehicle that was heading west.

Geiger survived with moderate injuries; Barajas, the passenger, was killed.

At 8 o’clock Sunday night October 20th on Highway 62, two people were killed in another crash at Peterson Road in Twentynine Palms.
