A federal judge in Washington, DC has dismissed a child slavery lawsuit against international food and candy makers.

Judge Dabney Friedrich has ruled  that Hershey, Nestle, Cargill, and other companies are not liable for child slavery on cocoa farms in Ivory Coast.

The judge said the eight plaintiffs in the proposed class action didn’t have standing to sue because they didn’t show what she called a “traceable connection” between the defendant companies and the plantations where the plaintiffs worked.
