Chargers Land Jim Harbaugh for 5 Years

Fresh off a National Championship with the Michigan Wolverines, Jim Harbaugh is leaving Big Blue, and heading to Southern California to be the Head Coach a team that wears powder blue…The Los Angeles Chargers.

The  Chargers and Harbaugh have agreed to terms on a five year deal.

Harbaugh returns to the NFL after serving as the head coach at the University of Michigan since 2015.

The 60-year-old Harbaugh played quarterback for the Chargers in 1999 and 2000.  Harbaugh has coached at the University of San Diego, Stanford and Michigan.

From 2011 to 2014, he was the Head Coach of the San Francisco 49’ers and his team played in 3 straight NFC Championship games and made it to one Super Bowl, losing to the Baltimore Ravens and his brother John Harbaugh.

For the Michigan Wolverines, they become the 3rd team in this year’s College Football Playoff to lose its head coach.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban retired.  Washington Coach Kalen Deboer left to take over Saban’s job at Alabama, and now Harbaugh has left Michigan.
