Can Mother Nature Be Stopped? Frequent Air Quality Alerts Are Continued Fallout From Tropical Storm Hilary

The Desert Healthcare District and Foundation is hosting an environmental health summit 2 months from now to talk about the bad air quality in the desert.

District officials know Tropical Storm Hilary in August 2023 triggered an onslaught of fine silt from the local mountains that now gets tossed around whenever the wind blows in the desert and causes the frequent air quality alerts in the Coachella Valley.

So, on Friday September 20th and Saturday September 21st 2024 the air quality, water quality, and other environmental health problems in the desert will be the topics of discussion at the Healthy Desert, Healthy You environmental health summit.

The existing challenges, present and future impact, and solutions on how to fight Mother Nature will be front and center.

Environmental activist Nalleli Cobo is the Keynote Speakers on September 21st.  Ann Cheney a Medical Anthropologist from the UCR Schoool of Medicine, Erica Felci, Coachella Valley Association of Governments Chief Operating Officer,  Jill Johnston, Associate Professor with USC Keck School of Medicine, Will Porter, Assistant Professor in Environmental Sciences at UCR,
